Miracle Boy is a must-tell story. From tragedy to triumph, it fuses hope and faith in the midst of darkness and difficulty. It tells the reader to keep looking to the light even in the midst of great darkness, invoking and inspiring us to keep seeing the good when it seems life has dealt us a ‘slack hand’. In this personal and powerful account, Charlotte guides us through a journey that is every parent’s worst nightmare. She tells her story with such precision and eye to detail that the reader comes to feel like a participant int he drama, rather than an observer. In the process, beyond the excruciating pain we’re party to, we experience a full range of emotions: we are with her in the fear, the love, the wonder and ultimately the healing.

Captivating, raw, a rare window into the unspeakable trauma any parent, grandparent, or healthcare worker, would flinch at reading, never mind enduring. Charlotte has courageously allowed us in to witness the mixture of emotions from all family members, as they navigated this shocking accident and remarkable recovery of their precious Oscar. It will challenge you to have compassion for those who have suffered deep trauma and leave you wondering, is there another realm - angelic beings even, that intervene as we pray?”

Miracle Boy is a gripping read. The early descriptions of how the author found out and was told about the fall are just so intense. The later recounting of the agonies her husband went through are similarly moving. The appearance of the suited angel is beautifully handled. Above all else, the depiction of the injuries, physical, potential, as well as actual, and the psychological trauma that Oscar sustained is incredibly distressing. Being finally able to put all the author went through into words, must ensure the savoring of future joys.

From the depths of tragedy to the heights of hope, Charlotte Blaxland's "Miracle Boy" is a profound narrative that chronicles the harrowing journey of her son Oscar's miraculous recovery from an unthinkable accident. As someone who has known the Blaxland family for decades and has a personal connection to the events described, I found this book not only a compelling read but also a deeply emotional experience.
Charlotte's narrative style is both raw and intimate, capturing the essence of the emotional roller coaster that the family endured. Her vivid recounting of Oscar's accident—the chilling moment and the aftermath—evokes a visceral reaction that is hard to shake. It's a story that brings to life their family's unwavering faith and the countless small miracles that peppered their path to recovery. Miracle Boy will inspire and challenge you to seek God first in all we do, good times and bad.
